WORLD`S #6 MOST EXPENSIVE CAR


Mercedes SLR McLaren is run by a hand-built 5.4-litre, supercharged V8 front-mid mounted engine. The 232-kilogram (512 lb), mighty all-aluminum, SOHC V8 engine, forms the backbone of this wonder car. With a compression ratio of 8.8:1 and the bore and stroke at 97 millimeter (3.82 in) and 92 millimeters (3.62 in), respectively, the master car produces a maximum power of 626 PS (617 hp/460 kW) at 6500 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 780 newton-meters (575 ft·lbf) at 3250 revolutions per minute.



Some exclusive driving characteristics inclde the presence of an automatic gear box and a front mid-engined arrangement that surpass all limitations to rank it as among the top ten most expensive cars in the world. Its every unique and adept configuration classifies it as the super GT, with Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and Ferrari 599 GTB being its nearest rivals.

The carbon-ceramic brake discs of the car provides with a better grip over the wheels. Its brake speed is at 210 mph to 0 in 94.3 feet. While the internally vented front discs are 370 mm in diameter, the brake discs are said to be fairly fade resistant to 1200°C. The internal discs have 8 piston calipers, while the 360 mm broad rear discs use 4 piston calipers.

Undoubtedly the car has been ranked amongst the top ten most expensive cars in the world, mainly due to its excelling performance, along with some unique features. The German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, in 2004, described that the car accelerates 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, 200 km/h in 10.7 seconds, and 300 km/h in 30.6 seconds.
